WATER

Felt is resilient against water and won't be harmed by it. Actually, this material can effectively draw away significant amounts of moisture, making felt coasters a reliable choice. After exposure to water, allow it to air dry. If needed, lay the item flat with a slight weight on top to ensure the wool fibers remain intact.

WINE, OIL, AND FOOD STAINS

To treat these stains, dampen the area using a mixture of warm water and mild detergent until it's saturated. Gently massage the stain to loosen the fibers, and wait for 2 to 3 minutes. Pat the area firmly with absorbent paper towels to remove excess moisture – remember not to rub. Repeat steps 1 to 3 until the stain visibly lightens. Rinse and repeat until the detergent clears.

DRY STAINS

For dry stains, an effective initial approach is to use a lint roller. A few swipes with a good adhesive roller should notably diminish dry stains and rejuvenate the appearance of the felt product. Employing this method regularly will help maintain a fresh look.

SHEARLING CLEANING

For mud or dirt, allowing it to dry before any action is crucial. Once it's dry, gently tap the felt to dislodge any remaining dust particles. Finish by lightly vacuuming to ensure thorough cleaning.

ROUTINE CARE

Though surface pilling is unlikely due to the dense nature of Husug long-fibered felt, a quick solution for minor pilling on the surface or edges is a few circular passes with a home fabric shaver.

RESTORING SHAPE

In certain damp conditions, heavy or angular objects within the bag might slightly alter the felt's shape. A remedy for this is running a steamer or lightly gliding an iron over the affected area. Gradually, after 2 to 3 seconds of gentle passes, the area should start smoothing out. Use your fingertips to help flatten the area if needed, and exercise caution by opting for fewer passes and less heat.

DRY CLEANING

For a seasonal refresh, dry cleaning is an excellent option. As most of our designs incorporate a mix of felt and leather, we advise against machine washing felt products.
